Abstract

9570. Lake, H. H., [Patterson, T. S.]. April 28. Steam turbines combined with centrifugal separators. Oil extractors and like separators are driven directly by steam, which is used to heat the drum. The drum 32 for containing oily waste or the like is mounted on a table 21, an under view of which is shown in Fig. 2. Steam from a nozzle 23 impinges on vanes 22 and rotates the table. Passing through the curved passages 27 the steam escapes into the dome 29 within the drum, which is thus heated. The dome has vanes 30 to draw the steam through to the outlet 31. Oil extracted is withdrawn by the pipe 36. some of it being drawn off through the hole 19<a> to lubricate the shaft 17.
