Abstract
9504. Lindemann, O., [Korting, E.]. April 27. Gas-producers.-Relates to gas-producers having vertical air inlet grates and gas exits so arranged that the products of combustion from the upper layers of fuel pass through the lower layers. The charging-hopper forms an extension of the generating-chamber. Fig. 1 shows a producer for poor fuel. The vertical grate c has adjustable plates e to direct the air into the desired part of the generating-chamber a. Air enters ports f in a casing having a door r, and its supply is controlled by flap valves p. The gas generated escapes by an exit l, over the ash plate d, to the flue m. When the fuel is not of uniform size, the back wall of the generating-chamber a should be inclined as shown. Fig. 2 shows a producer for more bituminous fuel. Two grates c, c<1> with separate air inlets are arranged, as shown, on opposite sides, or the same side, of the generator, and the products of combustion from the upper grate pass by flues n, n<1> to the lower grate. For finely-divided bituminous coal, the fuel chamber is extended below the lower grate c<1> and the gas exit l, and air is supplied to the ashpit.
