6754. MacGregor, J. S. March 24. Surfacing.-In a machine for grinding the uneven surfaces of tramway and railway rails, points, &c., the emery wheel c, Fig. 1, is mounted in a fork m, adjustable laterally by a screw k in the fork b, itself adjustable vertically in the head a by a screw h. The head a is supported by forked arms f, f<1>, carrying wheels for running on the track. The emery wheel is driven by a flexible shaft n connected to an electric or other motor or rotated by hand. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the machine runs on four wheels and carries a motor p connected to emery wheels c. The machine may be moved along the track by gearing worked by the handle h<1> or by the motor p.
