Abstract

5663. Raeburn, H. R. Macbeth-. March 11. Printing in several colours.-To enable colours in rotary and perfecting machines to be printed successively in one passage of the sheet or web through the machine, thereby saving expense and the loss of time consequent on interleaving and stacking, the back of the sheet is, after the printing of each colour, passed over a heated surface, whereupon the next colour may be immediately printed. After the sheet has been finally heated, the sheets may be placed directly on each other without interleaving, or the sheets may be cut and folded without risk of being spoiled by rubbing. The back of the sheet may subsequently be printed on, if desired. The invention may be applied to single printing-machines, thereby saving the interleaving of the sheets.
