Abstract

5651. Ashmead, E. C. March 11. Syringes.-The nozzle I screws on an extension E of a plug C, which screws into the front end of a hollow plug A and carries tips G, L to which the supply and discharge pipes are attached. The nozzle is triangular in cross-section, being composed of three wings i, Fig. 3, the spaces 1<1> between which serve for the passage of the return water into the opening B of the plug A. Or the nozzle may be of any other suitable shape. The front end of the plug A is oval, while the rear end tapers down to nearly the size of the circular opening B. The water supplied by the tube H passes through the hollow extension E into the nozzle I, whence it escapes through operings j, and, after cleansing the parts, returns through the openings I' into the hollow plug A and passes through a passage K in the plug C to the discharge pipe M. Packing D is inserted between the flange C' of the plug C and the face of the plug A. A rim N on each of the wings i and a rim 0 on the rear end of the plug A prevents the nozzle from being detached.
