Felloes or rims; tyres, pneumatic.-Felloes of wheels for motor carriages and other vehicles are provided with an outer flange e retaining a continuous ring d, which engages with the pneumatic-tyre cover c. To detach the tyre from the felloe, the air tube is deflated and the edges of the cover are forced together on one side, as shown in Fig. 2. The upper part, say, of the ring is then placed in the central depression b, while the opposite part is pulled outwards over the rim e. The ring can thus be entirely detached, its elasticity being sufficient to allow of this, and the tyre may then be pulled off. A detachable ring may be arranged on both sides of the felloe, or the cover may have thickened hook-shaped edges engaging correspondingly-shaped rings. To prevent creeping of the tyre upon the felloe, the ring is provided with transverse grooves into which the cover is forced by the air pressure.
