Abstract
28,434. Heer, O. Dec. 24. Rolling.-For returning the work to the front of a mill for rolling tubes and other hollow articles, two series of grooved pulleys c, d are mounted behind the rolls a, b, the pulleys d being loose on the ahaft g, and the pulleys c fixed on the shaft c<1>, which is connected by gearing f, e with the upper roll a. The pulleys d are pressed up to the work by springs h, which lift the work, after the same has left the rolls a, b, into contact with the pulleys c. The wedges o between the housings and the bearings of the roll a are, at the same time, moved by the screws p, q, and the upper roll is raised by the rods n and weighted levers, to allow the work to be returned between the rolls a, b. The mandrel head k is loosely mounted on the rod i, and is removed from the rod by the work in returning.
