Abstract

25,673. Lobjois, J. Nov. 21. Anµsthetics, administering.-Relates to apparatus for use in operations on the mouth, nose, &c., the anµstbetic being forced into the mouth by a vaporizer and a tube connected to the mouth-gag. A face mask n, Fig. 1, is first connected to the tube m of the bottle a, but, when the patient is well under the influence of the anµsthetic, the mask is removed, and the tube m connected to the tube x, Fig. 4, carried by one jaw of the gag. The mask is formed of celluloid or other transparent material, and is fitted with a discharge valve r and an aluminium mount having air-inlet slots o controlled by a tubular valve-piecep. The bottle a is contained in a water chamber It. The stopper b is formed with horizontal passages controlled by valves c, d, Fig. 2, and with vertical passages in which are fitted the air pipe f and the discharge pipe g. The pipe f may be in twopieces, to regulate its length. Fig. 5 shows a clip for compressing the nostrils to prevent breathing through the nose.
