Abstract
7450. Hearson, C. E. March 27. Lamp shades oil lamps.-Relates to egg-testing apparatus in which the eggs are held at the outer end of a metal side tube on a metal lamp chimney or shield. The lamp b, Fig. 2, is provided with a shield a having air apertures c and a light screen d. The outer end of the side tube e is narrower than the inner end, and is provided with a fixed inclined diaphragm f having retaining lips g, h for loose cardboard diaphragms i faced with cloth j. The interior of the conoidal tube e is bright, and serves as a reflector, and, when the tube is used with a metal chimney, a piece of talc or mica is preferably placed at the inner end, the usual lens being unnecessary.
