Abstract

Optical benches, fittings for.-Relates to a lamp for use on optical benches for demonstrating, amongst other things, the reflection and refraction of light and the law of the intensity of illumination, and for finding the focal lengths of mirrors and lenses. The gas or like burner d, which can be rotated by a handle e, is enclosed in a casing a having an opening b at the front with side guidegrooves to receive the flanges of a rectangular tube or " screen " k. The outer end of this screen may have a cover m with a narrow slit or an opening with cross-wires. The screen may be replaced by, or used in conjunction with, a slide having a narrow slit, one or two pin holes, a small circular hole, or other openings. Air is admitted at openings f behind a shield g, while the products of combustion escape at the chimney g<1>. -.
