Abstract
25,697. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. Dec. 16. Dinitrodihydroxydiphenylamine is produced by condensing 3 - chlor - 4 : 6-dinitrophenol with p-amidophenol, for example, in presence of sodium acetate and alcohol. The condensation product is obtained in the form of its sodium salt, from the aqueous solution of which the free compound is precipitated by a dilute acid. The 3-chlor-4 : 6- dinitrophenol employed may be produced by acting upon 1-chlor-2 : 4 : 5-trinitrobenzene with alkalies. Dyes, artificial.-A dye which contains sulphur and yields on cotton black shades fast to oxidizing- agents, as well as to washing, fulling, and light, is produced by heating the foregoing dinitrodihydroxydiphenylamine with sodium sulphide and sulphur from 100‹-170‹ C. until the mass is dry. The black shades produced on cotton are but slightly if at all altered by steaming, or by the action of oxidizing-agents.
