25,518. Thompson, W. P., [Rudolph, C.]. Dec. 13. Flexible metal pipes or tubes are formed by winding spirally a band or strip shaped to the form shown in Fig. 2. The band comprises parts a, c, and f parallel to the axis of the tube, parts b, e, and g inclined to the axis, and the part d bent back from, but attached to, the part c. One or more channels are provided for lodging one or more packing- washers k of rubber or asbestos fibre. The parts d', c', Fig. 4, may be separated so as to receive the horizontal extension m<1> of the band or strip. The bands may be wound in right or left handed directions, the exterior and interior parts being interchanged by a reversal in the winding.
