Abstract

20,698. Quarmby, r. Oct. 16. Eyelets; lacing-fastenings.- Eyelets for use with flat laces are made of elongated form, as shown in Fig. 3, with a straight side c and narrow guide-portions g for preventing twisting of the lace, and an enlargement f for passage of the tag &c. When used on boots and shoes, the top pair of eyelets may have the part f extended to form hooks for securing the ends of the lace. Metal eyelets are formed in the usual way by dies ; leather, fabric, and like eyelets and the corre- sponding insertion apertures are produced by punches and cutters with protuberances and recesses of the proper shape.
