To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED VVEIGAND, a i citizen of the United States, residing at lVashington, District of Columbia, have in- I vented certain new and useful Improvel ments in LacingJ-looks; and I do hereby del clarc the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to lacing hooks for wearing apparel, and is especially designed to be used on shoes, gloves, and similar articles of apparel, and has for its object to provide lacing hooks of novel construction by means of which the lace may be conveniently, easily, and rapidly laced and unlaced.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a novel device of this character which I will be simple in construction, efficient and j j from its flange 2 the fiat tongue 3. This tongue 3 has a portion adjacent the flange bent upwardly therefrom at right angles thereto as at 4, and has its intermediate portion disposed in a plane parallel with the upper surface of the eyelet 1. The end portion of the tongue is bent on an outwardlx inclined plane transversely of the tongue as at 6, and projects beneath the portion 5 as at 8. he free edge of the tongue 3 is so arranged that it forms a gradual curve as indicated at 9. This is done to prevent any undue wear or injury to the lace, as is believed to be apparent.
In applying the device to the upper of a shoe, it is to be noted, as shown in Fig. 1, that the eyelet is so positioned as to bring the edge which is inclined, parallel with an edge of the slit 10 of the uppers.
I claim:
A device of the character described, comprising an eyelet having an annular ofiset around its upper edge, an extension on said offset extending upwardly from one side of the lateral edge thereof and about at a right angle thereto to elevated position above said eyelet then transversely thereof and then downwardly to a point slightly above the top of said, annular portion and adjacent to the opposite side of the lateral edge of said portion, and finally curved inwardly and terminating on the line of the axis of said eyelet, said inwardly curved portion being rounded upon its inner lateral edge.

With the above and other objects in View, the invention consists in the details of construction, and in the novel arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more particularly referred to.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of the specification, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a view in elevation of the upper of a shoe illustrating the invention applied thereto.
