Abstract

20,223. Mnirhead, A. E. Oct. 10. Sawing.-Relates to a band-sawing machine in which several saws are mounted parallel to each other, and are twisted so that they cut in planes normal to the axes of the pulleys. In Fig. 1, C, D, E, F, represent such saws mounted on the pulleys A, B. The saws at the cutting-points are turned through a right-angle by guide-pulleys as G and H. Each saw is also fitted with a tension pulley (not shown) at the back. The saws may be twisted so that opposite surfaces are in contact with the pulleys A, B. The table carrying the wood is fed forward by a counterweight connected to the bench by a cord passing over a pulley.
