Water, purifying.-Relates to a process in which a precipitate is produced by the addition of ferrous or aluminium sulphate to the water in which sodium hydrate has been dissolved. In the case of water which contains free carbonic acid in solution, lime water in excess of that required to unite with the carbonic acid is first mixed with the water, then sodium carbonate to unite with the excess of lime water and form sodium hydrate, and finally the ferrous or aluminium sulphate.
