Stoppers; capsuling and sealing bottles &c.-The neck 1, Fig. 1, of the bottle &c. is formed with a horizontal shoulder 2 and an undercut shoulder 3, and is closed by the hollow stopper 4, which is made of aluminium or other suitable metal &c., and is pressed down on the shoulder 2 until its corrugated sides 6 are compressed together under the shoulder 3, as shown in Fig. 2. A packing- washer 7 of cork &c. is fitted in the lower end of the stopper, to form a tight joint with the neck. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the shoulders are formed on the exterior of the neck, over which the corrugated cap-shaped stopper 11 is compressed, as shown, the washer 14 being placed in the interior of the cap.
