Abstract

8737. Peart, G. R., and Foxon, F. April 29. Sawing.-The teeth of double-acting saws are made in pairs 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and so on. In each pair the teeth, as 1 and 2, face in opposite directions and are set in the same direction, the next pair being set in the opposite direction. When the saw has become worn down, as shown in Fig. 3, the teeth are re-topped as shown by the dotted lines, the teeth 2 and 3 then forming a pair and the teeth 4 and 5 another pair, and so on. The forms of the teeth may vary and, according to the Provisional Specification, the teeth may be set singly in opposite directions.
