Abstract
7497. Cruvellier, B. Nov. 21, A.D. 1900, [date applied for under Sec. 103 of Patents &c. Act, A.D. 1883]. Electric railways and tramways on a surface contact system with switches operated by magnets on the vehicle. Switches; conductors. -Contact is secured between the moving part and the main by means of metal granules, filings, &c. In the form shown, the box 6 into which the main 7 is brought contains metal granules. Above it is a box 1, fitted with a contact 2 connected to the surface contact 3. A moving contact 4 has a rod 5 dipping into the granules, and is attracted by pole-pieces 11, 12 to make contact with 2. A magnet 9 serves to return the contact.
