The base part A' of the tyre A is formed by embedding, within the rubber C, canvas or similar non-stretchable strips B, which may be in the form of a coil, and vulcanizing the parts together. The wheel to which the tyre is preferably attached consists of two sheet-metal discs D, secured together by rivets E, and Laving their outer separated edges connected by a fixed bridge-piece F. The tyre is secured between the outer flanges H<1> of two detachable side plates H, which are attached to the wheel by transverse bolts. The base part of the tyre may be vulcanized to a greater extent than the tread part.
