Abstract

10,612. Martin, F. W., Stewart, F., Brown, J. M., and Boggs, N. G. June 11. Globes; globe holders; lamp - shade holders.-In an electric arc lamp, an arcenclosing globe 5 is made with a circular rib, and held against a gas-check 12 by a packed cup 7, carried by two pins on a surrounding ring ; at right-angles to the pins two spring hooks are hinged on this ring, and are engaged with projections on a cup Z, forming part of the lamp frame. An outer globe 20 is secured by screws in a ring 21, attached to headed rods sliding in the side tubes U, to support the globe i a a lower position. The globe is held in working position by two spring hooks 23 on the ring 21 engaging the upper projecting edge of the cup Z. To avoid breakage if the inner globe falls, a small wire or mica guard is placed below it, in the outer globe. A shade is carried on a ring 31, connected by pins and spring 29 to a casing 32, 33, and resting on the outer globe ; to give access to the spring hooks 23, the casing 33 can be raised within the fixed casing 34 of the lamp, and held up by spring hooks 35 engaging a lip 36 thereon.
