Expansion and telescopic joints.-Stack pipes or chimneys fixed to buildings are built up so that a length of piping may be removed without disturbance, in order that it may be repaired or cleaned. The telescopic joint for the removable length e of piping shown in Fig. 2 consists of the socketed end f slipping over the end a of the fixed pipe, and the loose collar g which makes the joint good. The bottom of the pipe e rests in the top of another pipe or spout. A number of loose lengths uf piping may be employed.
