A canvas strip D, covered on the inside with clay, is applied to the pipes, and a cementing-composition is run in through a hole e, the air escaping at e<3>. The box is a loose fit to enable it to receive pipes of different sizes, and clay or the like is applied at G to retain the cement until it sets.
