A carburetter for motors &c., particularlv motors for driving vehicles, comprises a vessel a containing hydrocarbon liquid into which a cylindrical wick e dips. The wick is supported by a perforated cylinder d. Air enters by the tubes g, and passing through the wicks is drawn off through the cocks k, p. The three-way cock k controls the relative quantities of pure and carburetted air that passes to the throttle valve p and to the engine or elsewhere. The level of the liquid is indicated by a float gauge r, r' and controlled by float valve v. The oil may be heated by passing the engine exhaust through a pipe 20.
