6155. Boult, A. J., [Laurency, N., and Laurency, J.]. April 2. Ring and traveller frames.-Relates to spinning, twisting, and winding frames. The ring rail is stationary while the spindles are traversed, the driving-wharve b being made longer than usual to allow for the slipping of the driving band thereon. The traveller f consists of a curved bar, or a portion or the whole of a circular bar or wire, which is provided with a counterweight i, a hook h to serve as a thread-guide, and a portion of which g rests against the inner surface of the ring. When the traveller consists of a complete circle, it may be provided with several vertically-projecting stems, and one of these may carry a weighted lever, the lighter end of which presses against the bobbin. The traveller may, however, be so balanced as not to touch either the bobbin or the inner wall of the ring. Means are provided for regulating the distance between the drawing-rollers v, v<1> and the retaining-rollers u, u<1>, and also the pressure between the retaining-rollers. The rollers u, u<1> are carried by a bracket t of the form shown in the end of a lever q, which can be moved by means of a toothed sector and worm operated by a handle into the position shown in dotted lines. The pressure between the rollers is regulated by supporting the upper roller u<1> in one or other of the three sets of notches or bearings shown in the bracket t.
