Rolling.-Relates to the stretching or elongating of the hollow blooms or billets from which seamless metal tubes for boilers and other purposes are made by skew-rolling on a mandrel. The mandrel C is carried by the ball-bearing box D, and is held between the pass of the discs or rolls. The discs B. B' are arranged at right-angles, with the centre of one above the centre of the other, so that the billet is rotated and advanced at the same time. Conical rolls or pairs of discs, which are inclined, may replace the discs at right-angles.
