Cylinder machines with plane printing - surfaces; delivery apparatus.-Relates to machines in which the cylinders roll over stationary beds, and consists of means whereby papers may be produced having a larger number of pages than those the press can usually print. Fig. 1 shows a press having an ordinary capacity of eight pages. H, H<1> are the cylinders, and h, h<1> the beds. The web W passes through the machine, and is printed as usual. For printing papers having more than eight pages, a web W<1> is first printed, and this is passed from the last looper roller l to a delivery mechanism consisting of a roll A and tapes E on the rollers B, C, D driven slightly faster than the feeding-out rollers &c. K, K'. This first web is then passed round guide-rollers F, G to a winding-roll J driven by gearing and a friction device. When sufficient of the web W<1> has been printed, the formes are changed to print the rest of the pages on a second web W, and the webs W, W<1> are associated and led together to the folder V and delivery mechanism. The roll J, having been freed from its friction driving-arrangement, the web W<1> is fed therefrom for association with the web W by a feed-roller A' and tapes E<1>, and is passed over a roller N adjustably mounted for bringing the webs into register. To assist in registering, a sprocket chain R on wheels Q. S is provided with pointers P at distances apart equal to the lengths of the sheet. These indicate the margins on the web W. In a modification, the roll J and unwinding &c. devices are arranged beneath the run of the web W.
