24,488. Adshead, T. W. Dec. 9. Bedsteads and cots.-Relates to means of connecting the top rail of the end frames of bedsteads to the pillars and uprights. On the underside of the top rail b<2>, which may be of hollow metal or of brass-covered wood and may be suitably upholstered or covered with plush &c. to serve as a rest for leaning on when conversing with the occupant of the bed, is a groove in which is fixed by screws f a metal strip b<1> which has at its ends holes to engage the screws on the pillar. The top rail is secured by a cap or mount g threaded on the screw c<1> and held in place by the knob g'. The cap g also secures or clamps in place the mount h. The rails e are secured by a screw i passing through the bar b<1> and engaging nut e'. The mount j is clamped between the bar b<1> and the end of the rail e. The Provisional Specification states that the top rail may have an open joint along the top, and tie arm-rest a tongue fitting into the groove.
