Abstract
24,141. Flannery, Sir J. F., and Boyd, W. Dec. 4. Drawings to Specification. Settling.-Relates to means for facilitating the separation of water from liquid fuel, more especially in cases where the liquid fuel is stored in the ballast tanks of ships with, or alternately with, water, as described in Specification No. 15,791, A.D. 1898, [Abridgment Class Furnaces &c.] The separation is expedited by the application of heat to the oil in the settling-tanks by means of coils of pipe through which steam, hot water, or other heating-agent is passed, by utilizing the heat radiated or conducted from the boilers, or otherwise. The method of adapting the invention to the various arrangements of tanks &c. described in the above-mentioned Specification is illustrated.
