Abstract

23,566. Bernstein, S. Nov. 25. Incandescent gas lamps.-In burners fitted with pilot jets, the gas supply is so controlled that gas is admitted to the pilot jet before it is cut off from the main burner, and vice versÔ. while the quantities of gas supplied to the pilot jet and the main burner are determined separately by screw or needle valves. The valve casing X, which is cast in one piece, is shaped as shown to allow the needle valve A, which determines the quantity of gas supplied to the main burner 0, to be arranged vertically, the quantity of gas supplied to the byepass P" of the pilot jet F being determined by the screw valve E. After the valves A, E have been adjusted, the gas supply is controlled by a plug cock C, which is so channelled that gas simultaneously passes to both the main and the bye-pass channels P', P<11> at the instant before it is cut off from one or the other. The pilot jet F serves also as a night lamp, and is arranged within the bunsen burner 0, to which air is admitted under the control of the rotary hit-and-miss valve K.
