Abstract

18,818. Baverstock, W. W. Sept. 18. Elevators.-Relates to elevators for use in raising frozen carcases &c. from ships' holds. To allow ready adjustment, the sprocket - wheels are mounted on separate frames. The upper pair F is mounted in a frame secured to a beam A placed across the hatchway. The lower pair I is mounted in adjustable bearings K in a frame L secured to the platform l. Each bucket, which is open endedtrough-shaped, is fitted at the back with T-blocks to engage with sockets secured to the chain, n which the blocks are fixed by a pivoted stop-bar and wing-nut. A pair of elevators may be mounted upon the same shaft at the top, which may be driven from an ordinary steam winch.
