11,638. Ray, I., and Jones, H. June 5. Carburetting.-Air is passed through hydrocarbons of the composition described in Specification No. 15,183, A.D. 1898, [Abridgment Class Air and gas engines]. The air is forced by pumps or bellows d, actuated by a clockwork or other motor, through a spiral passage a filled with shavings, wool, waste, &c., and supplied with the hydrocarbon, the gas thus produced passing into a gasometer h. The passage a is formed by a spiral plate b depending from the lil c of the vessel. When the gasometer is full, a projection i strikes a tappet m, and lifts a lever e, so as to apply a brake k and stop the motor. For small apparatus, a cylinder of compressed air may be used in place of the bellows d.
