Roofing tiles and slabs.-Fig. 8 shows a plan view, and Fig. 9 an underside view of a roofing-tile formed with an upper V-shaped rib o and recess h, a lower groove w adapted to engage with the ribs o of the tiles below, and under ribs v which engage with the recesses h of the lower tiles. Dovetail-shaped grooves x at the sides of the tiles interlock with corresponding projections y of adjacent tiles, and hanging nibs z engage with the roof battens. Fig. 5 shows a mould for producing the tiles, which may be made of cement or other material. A cover c, hinged at b to a table a, carries two pivoted ribbed arms l which shape the recesses h and ribs o of the tile. Knives are fixed to the cover-plates at the sides of the grooves e, and the material between these knives is removed by a scoop or cutter k and placed in the grooves d te form the ribs o. The tile is removed from the mould by vertical rods, which project through the mould bottom and are attached to a plate operated by a treadle.
