Abstract

9117. Cook, G. May 1. Automatic striking-apparatus.-The line is wound on a drum 8 wound up by a spring. A loop in the line passes through a notch on one end of a bellcrank lever 17, pivoted at 14, the other end of which is made with a pawl 16 to engage with a ratchetwheel 10 on the drum 8. The apparatus 7 is fitted to slide between a base 3 and overhead guides 4, a spring 6 acting to draw the apparatus away from the pawl 16 when the latter is tripped by the pull on the line as a fish takes the bait. A bell 22 is simultaneously rung.
