The circumferential leather, cotton, or similar band a receives metal strips b, and is connected by rivets r to a few transverse non-stretchable strips d, which attach the protector to the tyre t or rim c. To prevent the metal strips, which are a short distance apart, from chafing the tyre, thin metal pieces e are interposed, the rivets r being passed through slots in the ends, whereby slight circumferential movement is allowed.
