Abstract

6133. Dewdney, G. F. March 21. Chairs; chain keys and wedges.-The chairs A are made from rolled steel with parallel jaws inclined to the base as in Fig. 1, or with jaws at right-angles to the base as in Fig. 9, when the rail A<1> has a tapered web. Keys such as C, D, or H secure the rail. The channel-shaped key C is held in place by a screw F and nut E which passes through slots or apertures in the key and chair jaw. The key D is held by a vertical wedge G fitting into wedge-shaped openings in the jaw and key, and lugs g on the side of this wedge prevent it from coming out as they are too large to pass through the opening in the jaw. Other fastenings may be used, or the fastenings may be omitted, or through-bolts may secure the several parts together. Rail joints.-The above-described chair and fastenings are used at the joints.
