Cooking - ranges &c., convertible close and open; boilers and water - heaters. - Relates to a cooking - range with which is combined a detachable boiler, both of which are readily portable. The range a, Fig. 1, has an oven b, under which is secured a plate-warmer f, and above which are apertures g to receive culinary utensils. The range is provided with hinged doors or flaps c, a horizontal damper d, and oven and boiler flue dampers d', d'. When the flaps c and the damper d are open and the dampers d<1>, d' closed, an open range is obtained, but by closing the flaps c and the damper d and opening either one or both of the dampers d', d<2> a closed range is obtained. The boiler h, Figs. 1 and 3, is mounted in a casing h<1> formed with carrier rings i and j, which are supported by the cylindrical wall l. The spaces n and p so formed are filled respectively with sand and asbestos. A flue m surrounds the boiler, and is provided with an inlet passage t and an outlet passage, controlled by the damper d<2>, for the passage of the products of combustion. A door w is provided for access to the flue m. The boiler may be separated from the range, and heated separately by a fire placed underneath it.
