641,747. Kitchen ranges. SCOTTISH CENTRAL, IRON CO., Ltd., and MUNDIE, J. Jan. 31, 1948, No. 2932. [Class 126] A combination firegrate has a hotwater boiler, a cooking oven beside the firebox and heating compartments mounted above the oven and the firebox, the latter being provided with firedoors which when closed provide for slow combustion or an increased araught. The open firebox 10 is provided with doors 25, having apertures filled with mica or monel gauze. An ashpan 14 placed beneath the firebox is fitted with an air regulator 16. An oven is arranged beside the firebox 10 and is heated by the circulation of combustion gases which finally reach an outlet flue 40. An inclined baffle 70 is placed in the flue beneath the oven to ensure even distribution of combustion gases beneath the oven. A hot-water boiler 17 is provided behind the firebox 10 and has above it a removable cover 18 which reaches up to a flue 19 above the firebox 10. Heating compartments 12, having removable bases are disposed above the oven and the firebox 10, and are insulated from one another and the side casing of the grate. A slide damper 62 is provided to control the flues 19, 56 and dampers control the circulation of gases round the oven.
