Abstract
189,821. McLeroth, T. B. June 13, 1921. Moulding wheel tyres.-Relates to moulds for tyres comprising a series of pneumatic chambers each communicating with an inner continuous inflation tube, of the kind described in Specifications 160,942 and 189,552, [Class 144 (ii), Wheel tyres, Pneumatic &c.], and comprising outer chambers c, Figs. 1. and 2 formed by partitions b moulded integrally with the tube c, and an inner inflation tube f vulcanized to the tube c. Figs. 4 and 6 show the moulds for forming the tubes c, f respectively. Referring to Fig. 4, spaced cores r are secured in the two-part mould j, k by set-screws s which also serve to position plates u for producing the apertures d (through which the cores d are removed). The mould for the tube f (which may be formed in a straight length or annular) comprises outer members x, y, and a core 33 which is champed in position between a spacing-lug on the part y and pins 26 in the nipple-forming apertures 25. Fig. 11 shows a mould for produqing a modified construction of tyre wherein half-moulds 44, 45, which are shaped to produce an enlargement 48 for the tube f, are detachably connected by pivoted yokes 46.
