The discharge of the basin is effected by a bell siphon C fixed to a tube D, the lower end of which seats upon the outlet pipe E and thus forms a valve. When the bell is raised the discharge into the long leg starts the siphon. Sufficient water is always left to form the seal J. The pipe D also serves as an overflow.
