Abstract

14,841. Campbell, J. July 6. Sawing. -Relates to an adjustable guard for circular saws. The horizontal axis E, on which the guard is supported, is clamped to a slide D which can be raised or lowered on the pedestal A by a screw C. The front guard L is made to slide in the boss L' so as to rise when pressed upon by the advancing wood ; it may also be clamped in the raised position by a set-screw 8. The boss L<1> is mounted on the end of two rods H, H<1>, which slide in a boss X capable of turning on the end of the rod E, the rods H, H<1> being kept horizontal by stops 5. A riving-knife K can be clamped in any required position on the rods H, H'. To get access to the saw, the whole guard is turned back on the axis E, as shown by the arrow.
