Each end of the comb 1 is mounted adjustably in a bracket 2, which is pressed by a spring 7 against a loosely-pivoted guide or shoe 15, which bears against the flat as it is being stripped. The end of the comb 1 is caused to project beyond the bracket 2, and loosely to surround an adjustable sleeve 9 on the screwed end 8 of the ordinary oscillating lever 10 is a nut for preventing the comb from being moved too far inwards by the springs.
