8992. Hudson, R., and Hudson, W. S. April 18. Tip-wagons.-Fig. 1 shows an end elevation, Fig. 2 a vertical longitudinal section at one end, and Fig. 3 a sectional plan corresponding to Fig. 2. The standards for supporting the body 1 of the tip-wagon are constructed of vertical thin metal plates 2 bent to suit the ends of the underframe 3 and secured thereto by vertical bolts 4. The body 1 carries rockers 7 rolling on the ways 5, which are supported on the top of the standards. In the construction shown the rockers and ways are bent up at the ends and are raised in the middle, whereupon the centre of gravity of the body travels along the dotted line joining the points c, c<1> during the tipping operation. Modifications in the form of the rockers and ways are, however, described, so as to cause the centre of gravity to travel nearly horizontally. In a further modification, the wagon is made to tip at its ends instead of at its sides.
