Abstract
25,338. Jessen, B. H. Nov. 18. Wagons; bodies; doors, wagon; underframing of bodies.-Relates to large freight cars provided with bottom discharge doors. The steel sides e of the body are supported on upper and lower girders a, b joined together by inclined struts c and ties d. Additional members f, v, w connect the end parts and support the inclined ends p ot the body. A longitudinal division is formed by girders j covered by hood plates l, and the hinged discharge doors s close the openings between angle-irons t secured tp the girders and inclined side extensions g strengthened by bent plates h. The end plates n of the discharge hoppers intersect the inclined ends p, and may extend across the car. The car may be divided by transverse frames m, strengthened by plates u, so as to allow the load to be discharged in two portions if desirable. The side extensions g are tied to the girders j either by adjustable rods i or by connecting- plates. The doors s may, according to the Provisional Specification, be of the type described in Specification No. 18,884, A.D. 1901.
