Flax, hemp, jute, and the like is pulped and compressed into sheets, which may be waterproofed, and the links A are punched therefrom. The outer links C are of leather. guttapercha, or the like, to stand the friction of the belt forks. The heads of the pins B may be protected by covering-pieces D of leather &c. secured by small pins.
