To lock the door &c., a T-headed bolt on the door is given a quarter turn so that the head engages with a recess in the jamb &c. The other end has a thread of coarse pitch passing through a nut formed on a sliding bolt controlled by ordinary locking-mechanism. On inserting a key and sliding the bolt, the nut causes a quarter turn to be imparted to the T-headed bolt, locking or unlocking the door.
