Double-door fastenings; ; obstruction bars; locks, key; keys.-A safety bar A, Figs. 2 and 6, shown as applied to a double door but stated to be applicable to other doors, is loosely pivoted at C, on the free half, through an oval pivot hole, and engages the hook socket B on the fixed half of the door. The bar A is raised by the latch E, Figs. 4, 5, and 6, operated by a handle and locked by special mechanism. To unlock, the key shown in Fig. 11 is made to rotate the part I, Fig. 7, against the action of the spring N, the small uniformly-arranged bits P engaging the notches J, shown in the developed surface L, K, Fig. 9. The helical portion M, Fig. 10, of the part I causes a slider to move against the action of the spring G, and thus release the latch E, as shown in Fig. 6. On the withdrawal of the key, the part I is returned against the stop 0, and the door may then be secured from the outside by turning down the latch E from the position shown in Fig. 6, when the slider is released, and returns, thus locking the latch E. When not required, the bar A may be removed by hand, and hung down as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2.
