Abstract

The valve H between the mixing-chamber J' and the cylinder is actuated by an eccentric on the crank shaft through a tappet rod G. A wedge-shaped piece E' sliding on a plate E hinged at C is interposed between the end of the rod G and the stem of the valve H', and its position is regulated by a governor A acting through the bell-crank lever B. The time of opening of the valve H<1> is thus under the control of the governor. The inlet valve J admits air from the opening K and gas from the annular chamber N<1>, causing the two to mix before entering the chamber J<1>.
