Abstract

Latrines. - The trough into which the basins A discharge is fitted'with a double-sealed trap B, from the crown of which an air pipe F passes up into the cistern, and has its down-turned end H in the flushing-pipe D. The top of this pipe F is perforated at J to communicate with an air chamber K open at the bottom. When the flush is started, air is exhausted from the crown of the trap B, and the trough is thus discharged. When the water level reaches G, air enters the chamber K and passing to the trap B destroys the siphon action and thus stops the discharge. Flushing closets.-The covering-stone for the chamber in which the tipping-tank for waste.water closets is placed is channelled to receive the sink discharge. In the Provisional Specification, the latrine discharge apparatus is shown applied to single closets.
