17,950. Brookes, H. J., and Davis, A. B. July 31. Making wheels for vehicles.-In the manufacture of hubs for the wheels of cycles and similar vehicles a metal tubular blank is reduced in thickness at those parts where the spoke flanges are to be formed by a cutting or turning process or by spinning between rollers. The thinned parts are annularly bulged as described in Specification No. 17,070, A.D. 1896, and the bulgings are upset in the direction of the axis of the hub to form spoke flanges. The hub has thus a reduced weight owing to the thin spoke flanges.
